Tending the relationship between your garden and our valley’s native pollinators.

Our landscape is held together by ancient biological partnerships between native plants and pollinators. This interplay helps ensure the Willamette Valley’s biodiversity remains vibrant and resilient.

When we move beyond traditional landscaping and focus on the relationships between our garden plants and native pollinators, we are not simply planting flowers. We are restoring a critical ecological foundation.

Join us for a 60-minute workshop exploring the relationships between native pollinators and keystone plant species, along with simple, practical actions you can take to support and protect pollinators throughout their life cycles.

Meet Robin Geck
After 40 years of gardening, Robin was inspired by entomologist Doug Tallamy to take a deeper dive into native plant restoration. She now dedicates her time to restoring habitat and helping her community garden with native pollinators in mind. A certified Pollinator Steward, Robin tends Carlton’s pollinator garden and continues her work as a student and advocate for everyday actions that strengthen the valley’s ecosystems.

'The Visitor' Send-Off

The Visitor has been collecting the hopes, wishes, regrets, dreams, and messages of McMinnville citizens all week and now it’s time for its departure through ceremonial fire and music.

On Saturday 5/16 between 4-5pm, with music from DTW and fire, The Visitor will depart once again, carrying the collected messages skyward.

Some say the ritual brings luck.
Some say it helps people let go.
Some believe the messages truly make it out there.

All we know is that every year, after The Visitor disappears, the town feels just a little lighter.

Berry Creek Grand Opening!

Help us celebrate the grand opening of Berry Creek Garden!

Join us in celebrating the opening of Berry Creek Garden with a classic garden party in the courtyard at Mac Market. Enjoy the soft sounds of a string quartet, light hors d’oeuvres from our friends at Alea, drinks from Day by Day Bar and free wine tastings from their small producer wine residents, and slices from Honey Pie Pizza. For those feeling adventurous, Portland artist Lizzy Quinn will be offering botanical flash tattoos inspired by the natural world.

In the spirit of community, guests are invited to bring a small branch, twig, or stem from a favorite plant species, approximately 12 inches long. These pieces will be woven together into a large community wreath that reflects the diversity of plants and people that shape our landscape. The finished wreath will be displayed on the nursery wall as a living symbol of the garden we are growing together.

This is a free event, but we kindly ask that you RSVP here so we can plan ahead.

The Art of Bonsai

Hosted by Berry Creek Garden in their courtyard space:

Join local bonsai expert Dennis Quenneville at Berry Creek Garden for an introductory presentation on the art, design, and fundamentals.

Berry Creek Garden welcomes local expert Dennis Quenneville for a special presentation on Japanese Bonsai Basics, exploring the art of creating living trees in miniature. This introductory program will cover the foundations of bonsai, including what defines a bonsai, the natural inspirations behind the practice, and the core design principles that shape these remarkable trees.

Participants will learn about classic bonsai styles, how natural forces such as wind, weather, and time influence the form of trees, and how artists recreate those patterns through pruning, shaping, and careful design. The presentation will also introduce commonly used species, soil and fertilization basics, and practical ways to begin a bonsai practice using seedlings, nursery plants, or trees from your own landscape.

Whether you are new to bonsai or interested in deepening your understanding of this centuries-old horticultural tradition, this workshop offers a thoughtful starting point grounded in observation, patience, and a deeper appreciation of nature.

Space is limited. Tickets here.
