Located in Mac Market, Chef Kari Kihara’s new restaurant Hayward features “new northwest” fare, which is food rooted in local farming and purveying; cultivated through fermentation, whole animal butchery, and sourdough; flavored by the stories of Chef Kari’s life and travels; and is best enjoyed when shared over a over a table full of plates and beverages. 

The menu is ever-evolving not only in harmony with the changing seasons but also in the name of exploration. We need a dishwasher to command one of the most important stations in Mac Market. As the central dish cleaning area for Hayward, Honey Pie, and Bakery Bar, the dishwasher makes everyone’s life better when they crush cleaning and redistributing. Dishwashers are routinely treated to tasty bites and dad jokes. No experience necessary, just a hard work ethic, ability to multitask, and a good attitude!

Requirements:

  • must be able to stand for long periods of time

line cook

We are looking for a professional Line Cook to prepare food, set up stations and execute menu. Line Cook duties will consist of prep, oversee cooking process from start to finish, and be responsible for the workflow and getting food out in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, menu creation)

  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

  • Answer, report and follow kitchen director's instructions

  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food

  • Stock inventory appropriately

  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion

  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements and skills

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a Line Chef, Restaurant Cook or Prep Cook

  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

  • Familiar with industry's best practices

  • Up to date Food Handlers card

  • Available weekends

Front of house

As a FOH Team Member at Honey Pie, you will welcome and greet guests, take and prepare customer orders at either the front counter or on the phone, maintain cleanliness at the counter and dining area, observe health and sanitation guidelines, and ensure each guest leaves with a smile!

We are looking for trusty, well-presented front of house staff to supplement our existing team. Front of house staff will be responsible for greeting guests. You should also provide customers with knowledge about our menu and how to best enjoy the experience.

To be successful as front of house staff, you should be outgoing, personable, and adept at stress management. Remarkable front of house staff will provide guests with suggestions for nearby entertainment as well as engage in pizza conversation!

Front of House Staff Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and confirming walk-in and phone orders

  • Directing/teaching guests on how to be a guest at Honey Pie

  • Accepting and informing the relevant staff about food and beverage requests

  • Mixing and pouring beverages, as needed.

  • Running food orders from the kitchen to each pertinent table

  • Bussing glassware, plates, and silverware from each table once guests have completed their meals, or upon request.

Front of House Requirements:

  • High school diploma or suitable equivalent.

  • Proven experience in the position of interest.

  • Excellent verbal communication and memorization skills.

  • Great interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to remain composed, particularly during stressful or uncomfortable circumstances.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Willingness to perform additional duties to facilitate the restaurant's operations, as needed.
